Kevin McAleer has been talking nonsense for a living consistently since 1981, and shows no sign of stopping. One of the founding fathers of modern stand-up in Ireland and the UK, he has influenced and inspired a whole generation of performers, from Stewart Lee to David O'Doherty. Only a few weeks ago he removed the roof from the Royal Festival Hall in London with a rare revival of his legendary slide show, prompting Chortle UK to remark: 'Most of his set was spent waiting for people to finish laughing.'
McAleer first hit the headlines in Ireland with his regular appearances on RTE's Nighthawks, but it is in the live shows where he really continues to shine; the classic timing and delivery just get sharper with age, while the writing has become even more polished and condensed until there isn't a stray word anywhere for an audience to catch its breath. Come and see an original master at work.
