The highly anticipated grudge match between Irish Champion Anthony Fitzgerald and Lee Murtagh is set to take stage January 30th on the Dolphil Promotions Citywest card.
The trash talk is over as the pair enter their final two weeks of preparation for the Irish title fight. The contest has been hampered no less then three times now with the last fight disappointingly ending in a non-contest after a nasty clash of heads.
Lee Murtagh claims the blow was far from accidental but replays suggest otherwise, and Fitzgerald is determined to set the record straight once and for all - I cant wait for this fight, just over two weeks before I knock him out and put this fight to bed!
Since their last fight Fitzy has gone on to claim the WBF Inter-Continental Title with a gutsy display over the hard-hitting Kevin Hammond, a fight Fitzgerald believes will stand to him come Jan 30th - I had a tough 12 rounds with Hammond, I was in great condition going into that fight and I havent really eased off since then. I have a great team behind me, and make no mistake I am putting everything into this fight!
Boxing begins at 2pm, and with some of the biggest names in Irish boxing on the card Dolphil Promotions are promising value for money and a great days entertainment. Tallaght superstar Paulie Hyland makes his eagerly awaited return to the ring along with fellow Dubliners Oisin Fagan, Paul Griffin, Ian Tims & Robbie Long.
Michael Sweeney, Darren Cruise, Finbarr Eade, JJ McDonagh and Paddy Ward top off one of the best bills of boxing held in recent years.
